...journeys...

I've been contemplating, among many things...exactly what Jesus sent Mary (an "apostle" which means "sent one") out to tell the others after His resurrection...as to what their task was.

One of the gospels has a questionable ending, scholars say it was added--verses 9-19 of Mark 16. The verses are from another document dated to the first century, maybe the second half, missing from the oldest Greek manuscripts and others.

The ending in this gospel has the damning verse (16)--much different than the others. The others have the disciples going out with good news--not the "follow Him or fry" stuff. Read 'em again.

And atheists will tell you that because this gospel is the oldest and it simply ends with an empty tomb, that the actual resurrected Jesus was never seen.

What do you think?

I think that the resurrected Jesus was seen by many people.. some of these folks were martyred because they would not deny the resurrection. This place says it pretty well.

Yeah, KB...the evidence is in our favor, and our hearts...
that's a cool article. I'm going to read more.

There are many attestations to the resurrection of Christ - by way of witnesses and writings and history. On top of it, it still has to come by faith. Like what Jesus has pointed out in Luke 16 - if a person do not believe and his heart is hardened, whatever placed in front of him will be brushed away.

Great blog! I shall have to visit more often :) Shall put it into my Google Reader right now.

You are approaching dangerous territory my friend. Territory where you want more answers than have been provided for us. Congratulations!! You're not just accepting something because everyone else did or because "some things have to be taken by faith alone". Looking forward to McChurch on Sunday morning...

Pearlie, I absolutely agree--the evidence is still in our favor.
Don, yeah, gettin' my hand slapped once or twice doesn't seem to do anything but make me press on! ;-)
